Background

Under the supervision of recruitment managers in the areas covered (Women’s Peace and Security, Women’s Political Participation, Ending Violence against Women, Women’s Economic Empowerment, Governance, Gender Statistics, Planning and Coordination, Operations, Communications and the Senegal Office) there is. ), interns perform a number of standard management and program processes that ensure the high quality and accuracy of their work. Interns learn customer, quality and result oriented procedures.

Interns work closely with program and project staff, operations and coordination teams to ensure consistent service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities

      • Assist in the development and coordination of unit materials to raise awareness and strengthen advocacy in any of the above thematic areas.
      • A funding program that involves research and analysis on a specific subject area.
      • Help collect data on a regular basis to measure success against KPIs
      • Draft communications related to the specified portfolio.
      • Write stories and messages on UN Women’s social media, and collect photos and videos as needed.
      • Support the development and implementation of various activities and tasks within thematic areas.
      • Provide program and administrative support
      • Internship learning objectives.
      • Better understanding of UN Women’s work and the UN system
      • Learn about different aspects of the work, such as implementing program activities under gender governance, ending violence against women and women’s economic empowerment, peace and security, coordination and data analysis.
      • Advanced knowledge of topics relevant to all interests
      • Work as a team member in a multicultural environment

      Required Skills and Experience

      Education:

        • University studies in one of the following disciplines: Gender and development, Social Sciences, Communication, Statistics, Governance, international development, public administration, public policy, or other relevant subjects is required, based on the needs.

      Meet one of the following:

        • Must be enrolled in a graduate school (second degree or above).

        • You must have a university degree and, if selected, begin your internship within one year of graduation. or

        • Participate in a graduate specialized internship that is part of your degree program and complete the internship as part of your program requirements.

        • Enrolled in the final year of the first course of a university (at least bachelor’s level or equivalent).

      Language:

        • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in French, and English is an asset

        • Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage

      Renumeration:

      • Interns who do not receive financial support from a university or other institution will receive a scholarship from UN Women to cover part of their living expenses for the duration of their internship.
