Overview
This role involves strategic planning and implementation of communication activities to ensure effective visibility, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge dissemination for key regreening and landscapes restoration initiatives in Africa.
Duties and responsibilities
- Create and carry out tactical plans and communication strategies that include budgets, action plans, performance measures, and messaging.
- Organize the creation of publications, articles, web content, social media material, media releases, infographics, videos, photographs, newsletters, presentations, and event-related content by creating content plans and strategies.
- Create and carry out thorough event plans that include post-event evaluation, logistics coordination, budget management, and concept development.
- Create and carry out plans or strategies for media relations and engagement.
- As agreed upon, create analytical reports on the effectiveness of all communications initiatives.

- Determine and reduce any possible hazards in your workspace.
- As required by CIFOR-ICRAF’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy, take reasonable precautions for your own and others’ occupational health and safety. You should also work with CIFOR-ICRAF to comply with any applicable country laws’ statutory health and safety standards.

Requirements
- outstanding verbal and written linguistic proficiency in French and English.
- at least five years of increasing expertise in the development, messaging, and monitoring of strategic communications.
- Three (3) years of full-time experience in writing, editing, and journalism.
outstanding abilities in photography and/or videography.

Terms and conditions
This is a Locally Recruited Position (LRS). CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currency commensurate with skills and experience.
The initial appointment will be for two (2) years, with a six-month probationary period, with the possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position and available resources.
The duty station will be in Dakar, Senegal or Nairobi, Kenya CIFOR-ICRAF Offices.
