We are seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Area Depot Product Manager within our North West Africa Region (NWA) product division serving 8 countries.
Area Depot Product Managers drive depot products within NWA to profitably grow using two strategies: (1) A top-down approach to divide global and regional strategies into area products and performance and execute plans. (2) a bottom-up approach by identifying regional market gaps and turning them into opportunities for further development of depot products; As he/she is the mini-CEO of his Depot product, he/she owns the product strategy and knows how to win or lose it and improve profitability based on it and how to grow the product through execution of strategic initiatives. We also support a wide range of commercial organizations with Depot product expertise and advice to ensure that strategies are executed as expected and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
The Area Depot Product Manager key responsibilities include:
Product Strategy
- Implement and cascade global and regional depot product policies within a region
- Optimization and expansion of the depot product portfolio within NWA (footprint/location and services)
- Identify market trends, opportunities and customer needs related to Depot products
- Manage capacity and depot products according to market needs
- Develop and drive the business case for investing in new assets/facilities and growing depot offerings
Product Profitability & Pricing
- Work closely with the sales, delivery, and CX communities to increase the profitability of Depot products
- Area responsibility for all depot pricing activities, including but not limited to pricing
- Responsible for strategy, profit and cost reduction initiatives
- Ensure space pricing aligns with global governance
Product Performance Management
- Manage and improve the performance of Depot products
- Maximize Depot’s product sales, EBIT, GP and create new revenue streams through upselling and cost control
- Strengthen cooperation with global networks and increase value through networks
- Promote a culture of performance transparency and continuous improvement
Accountability for
- P&L, GP, EBIT
- Cost to serve
- Asset utilization
- Customer Pipeline
- Combined KPI
- Execution of Product strategy within area
Who are we looking for
An individual with relevant Depot experience and expertise with a strong financial knowledge (P&L, profitability, margin concepts), great business acumen, a commercial mindset and analytical skills. Specifically, below are the critical skillset sought for this role:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and/or Supply Chain
- At least 5 years experience in container depot and/or port terminal operations
- Regional/local market experience
- Experience in project management
- Commercial acumen – knowledge of sales cycle, need for customer value proposition
- Financial acumen – the ability to read, interpret and react to gains and losses
- Analytical Skills – Ability to perform data analysis using intermediate and advanced Excel functions
- Experience in stakeholder management and cooperation in matrix organizations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strategic Thinking / Autonomy / Entrepreneurship
- Fluent in French and English
