The Mastercard Foundation strives for a world where everyone has the opportunity to learn and grow. The opportunity
Led by the head of the Agri-Foods Systems division, Agri-Foods Systems provides direction throughout program design and implementation of the WAEMU Roadmap and the agri-food priorities within the WAEMU Roadmap, engaging partners to help influence countries Supports building separate programs. He/she will provide expertise in identifying constraints that prevent agricultural and food systems from working effectively at the national level and in integrating the needs of the agricultural sector into national strategies.
Ways you can contribute
- Provides agricultural domain expertise to support the Foundation’s country teams in the design and management of agriculture and farm finance programs.
- Identify challenges and opportunities in the agro-food system and drive employment growth.
- Collaborate with national teams and other team members on the development or implementation of new programs, including program co-creation and due diligence exercises.
- Communicate project progress and learnings to other Foundation members and the broader development community.
- Work with program and country teams to leverage synergies between programs and regions. Manage current programs and extract insights for Foundation staff and country teams.
- Provides perspective and expertise on emerging issues and trends in the agriculture and agri-finance sectors, including climate change.
- Contribute insights on the foundation’s thought leadership on youth employment in Africa. You lead and oversee a team of peers and young professionals, providing the coaching and support they need to succeed and grow. Identify challenges and other obstacles to team efficiency and help overcome them.
- Build relationships with partner organizations, communities of practice, and global stakeholders.
- Represent the Foundation and engage with key internal and external audiences.
Who you are
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Financial Inclusion.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant agribusiness and farm finance experience, and a minimum of 5 years of leadership and management experience.
- Experience in the private sector of food production or consumer goods. Having worked in French-speaking West Africa, he has a deep knowledge of policies, networks and the business environment.
- Native French and fluent English are required.
- Good project management skills, including multi-stakeholder projects. Work experience in a commercial agricultural business operating in Africa, West Africa or WAEMU.
- Understand the market and institutional challenges towards financial inclusion in rural and agricultural economies
