The opportunity
Under the leadership of the Agrifood Systems Director, Agrifood Systems will increase impact by providing direction and engaging partners through program design and implementation of the WAEMU Roadmap and the agrifood priorities within the WAEMU Roadmap. Support the establishment of a country program. He/she will identify constraints that prevent agri-food systems from functioning effectively at the national level and provide expertise to integrate the needs of the agricultural sector into national strategies.

- Provides agricultural sector expertise to support the Foundation’s country teams in the design and management of agricultural and agricultural lending programs.
- Identify challenges and opportunities in agriculture and food systems and drive job growth.

- Communicate project progress and learnings to Foundation colleagues and the broader development community.

- Manage current programs and extract insights for Foundation staff and country teams.

- Represent the Foundation and engage with key internal and external audiences.
Who you are
- Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Financial Inclusion or equivalent experience.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in agricultural business and farm lending, and at least 5 years of leadership and management experience.
- Private sector experience in food production or consumer products.
- Professional experience in French-speaking West Africa and in-depth knowledge of policy, networks and business environments.
- Native French skills and fluency in English are required. Strong project management skills, including multi-stakeholder projects.
- Experience working in a commercial agricultural business operating in Africa, West Africa, or WAEMU. Understand market and systemic challenges to financial inclusion in rural and agricultural economies
