SOS Children’s Villages International hiring Regional Emergency Response Coordinator.

Duties and responsibilities

Project Coordination and Management:

  • Oversees the implementation of multilateral projects and ensures that they are consistent with project proposals, donor requirements, and the strategic goals of the Emergency Department. 
  • Create detailed project work plans, budgets, and monitoring mechanisms to track progress and achieve project goals. 
  • Coordinates with stakeholders such as country offices, cooperation partners and government agencies to ensure effective implementation of projects and compliance with agreed standards. 
  • Lead regular project review meetings and provide timely reports on project status, challenges, and successes to regional emergency response managers and stakeholders.

Finance Management:

  • Work closely with regional finance departments to lead project financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting. 
  • Ensures compliance with financial procedures, donor regulations, and reporting requirements. 
  • Oversee the allocation and disbursement of project funds to the three country offices, ensuring appropriate financial documentation and accountability. 
  • Monitor project expenses and variances and proactively identify and resolve financial issues. 
  • Work with the finance team to produce accurate and timely financial reports for presentation to donors and internal stakeholders.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Ensure project documentation, including reports, case studies and success stories, is organized and accessible for internal and external purposes.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL):

  • Work closely with the MEAL team to design and implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework for the project.
  • Facilitate regular project assessments and evaluations to measure progress and impact against predefined indicators and targets.
  • Use monitoring data to identify areas for improvement and learning, and incorporate lessons learned into project planning and implementation.

Team Management and Capacity Building:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the project team, ensuring effective teamwork and collaboration.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and support staff in their professional development.
  • Identify capacity-building needs and organize relevant training and coaching sessions for project staff.

Ad hoc tasks:

  • Collaborate with the Regional Emergency Department in the development of project proposals for new emergency response initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise (especially on Child protection in emergencies, MHPSS and GBV) and guidance to country offices and project teams on emergency response strategies, best practices, and innovative approaches.
  • Support the creation and maintenance toolkits, guidelines, and resources to support emergency response operations across the region.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in humanitarian action, international cooperation, disaster management, project management or related fields. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge and at least 03 years of practical professional experience, preferably working with a non-profit organization or NGO in international humanitarian aid programs, with proven competence in the project management program. Proven experience in writing concise, high-quality reports, concept notes and project proposals. 
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting (BVA), financial reporting and grants management. 
  • Be familiar with GFFO or other international donor regulations and reporting requirements. Ability to use internal databases and policies (humanitarian missions, fund development, Connect SOS, core humanitarian standards, child protection companion). 
  • A deep and clear understanding of humanitarian principles, codes of conduct and, ideally, specific work in the following sub-sectors: protection, nutrition, livelihoods, linked to the operational context in INGO’s scene. Perfect command of French and English (written and spoken). 
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel well, including familiarity with spreadsheet functions, formulas, and data analysis tools. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse teams. Proven ability to demonstrate flexibility and work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment. 
  • Excellent negotiation skills with multiple stakeholders. Good training skills – the ability to develop, implement, facilitate and deliver learning to a wide audience. Ability to travel when necessary and in difficult situations to supervise project activities. Closing date: August 22, 2023.
