The United States Peace Corps in Senegal is seeking highly qualified personnel for the position of Environmental Programming and Training Specialist (PTS). This position is based in Dakar and reports directly to the Peace Corps Associate Director for Environment (APCD). PTS provides ongoing support to her PC/Senegal environmental program and conducts training of Environmental Peace Corps (PCV) volunteers and colleagues. The incumbent company will also provide technical support for PCV. Ideal candidates have a degree in horticulture, agriculture or forestry and have proven experience in managing and implementing environmental protection projects. Interested candidates should possess the following qualifications:
Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Science in Horticulture, Agriculture and Forestry with solid experience in managing and implementing agroforestry and environmental protection projects.
Prior Work Experience: Minimum five years of related practical work experience in the field.
Language Proficiency:
- Ability to read, write and speak French and English fluenty (F4 level).
- Proficiency in speaking one or more national languages of Senegal.
Adult training: Experience in implementing adult education methods and developing training tools such as manuals and lesson plans. Having a successful training with an American audience is especially helpful.
Gender equity and Positive youth development:
- Demonstrated desire to empower women and girls in the field of environment.
- Demonstrated desire to empower youth in the field of Environment.
Other required qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience supporting/coordinating with people from other cultures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Senegal agriculture and horticulture production system.
- Mandinka or Pulaar language skills.
- Demonstrated experience monitoring and reporting project implementation.
- Demonstrated experience working in Food Security.
