We are making Africa the first cashless continent.
In 2017, more than half of sub-Saharan Africa’s population did not have a bank account. There are good reasons for this. The fees may be too high, the nearest branch may be miles away, or there may be no one to accept your card. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to hide their savings under their mattresses. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge exorbitant interest rates. Parents stand in line for hours to pay school fees in cash.
We solve this problem by developing financial services that simply work, are readily available, universally accepted, and have no account fees. You can use Wave to send money even in places where electricity, water, and roads aren’t always working. In November 2017, we launched a mobile app for cash deposits, withdrawals, peer-to-peer and business payments in Senegal. In 2019, we also expanded into Ivory Coast. How can you help us achieve this goal?
We’re looking for a versatile senior brand designer and creative to help our team define and expand Wave’s brand identity and activations. This is no ordinary fintech company. We are a passionate, global, remote team with a mission to strengthen financial inclusion in Africa. The Brand Designer will have key responsibility in shaping and leading Wave’s growing brand identity and will play a key role in designing visuals and creating assets for marketing, sales and human resources teams. This is a highly collaborative role, reporting directly to the Brand Design Manager and working closely with other designers, marketing managers and product managers from different countries to enable great brand design.
As a Brand Designer, you’ll:
- Lead the design and creative process for all brand design materials
Prepare and present creative visions, concepts, and finished designs to multiple stakeholders
Oversee and maintain ownership of work from concept to production
Easily work on multiple projects at the same time
Ensure all marketing materials have a creative yet consistent look and feel
We work holistically across print, environmental design, digital design content, motion, and graphic design.
You’ll work closely with a passionate, cross-functional team who strategize, ideate, and create a variety of marketing assets.
Collaborate with design reviews by obtaining and providing meaningful and supportive feedback.
Use your solution-focused attitude and unique personality to build on our inclusive design team culture.

Key details
- Work remotely from anywhere (between -5 and +4 UTC) as long as you have reliable internet access.
- Wave covers one trip per year to one of our mission countries in Africa and an $800 annual stipend to meet with colleagues near your home base.
- Our salaries are competitive and calculated using a transparent formula. For this role, we will provide him with a salary of $74,900 (or local currency equivalent) and sufficient capital.

- Performance evaluations are conducted twice a year, and bonuses and promotions are awarded to employees who have been with the company for at least six months and have achieved excellent performance.

Requirements
- Fluent English skills and at least 5 years of design experience working on various teams and projects at a startup or agency.
Strong portfolio demonstrating detail-oriented design work and strategic problem solving
Excellent quality in typography, colors, layout and composition
A natural storyteller with a proven ability to streamline decision making and convey concepts.
Adobe CC and Figma proficiency
