Job description

The Program Officer is responsible for the full range of administrative and project/program support activities. Key results impact the overall performance of the country office and the successful implementation of project/program activities. Accurate program monitoring and recommendations, data entry and information presentation ensure proper program decision making.
He/she will be responsible for the following activities: 

  • Provides administrative and logistical support in the preparation and follow-up of community health and HIV events, conferences, and missions.
  • Ensures timely and accurate capture and processing of proposals and applications from governments and NGOs for Direct Cash Transfers (DCT).
  • Conducts monitoring of cash and inventory programs and notifies team members of status.
  • We support the conduct of periodic random audits to evaluate partner projects’ financial accounting, expenditure management, and reporting systems.
  • Monitor and track the efficient distribution of supplies necessary for effective program implementation.
  • Supporting the programme section in researching, compiling, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and information from a variety of sources on subject matters relevant to the work of the section to facilitate programme delivery as well as preparation of reports, working papers and presentations.
  • Carrying out transactions in VISION ensuring programme results, activities and programme coding are as per annual work plans (AWPs) and making amendments and alterations as per section revisions when necessary.
  • Carrying out transactions in VISION pertaining to grants and programme-related items for his/her section including but not limited to registering grant allotments and tracking expiring programme grants.
  • Preparing monitoring and reporting information for supervisor and team on agreed performance indicators to drive more efficient management and accountability for results.
  • Regularly monitoring budgets and financial expenditures of section by employing applicable tools, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations, keeping supervisor informed and advised on actions for decision and/or follow up.
  • Assists in the preparation of periodic and ad hoc financial reports to regional offices and donors and assists the office in optimizing the use of program funds. Supports capacity building activities related to program development through the creation of training materials and participation in exercises.

Job requirements

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of advanced training is mandatory, preferably supplemented with technical or university courses related to the organization’s operations.
  • At least she must have 6 years of management or office experience.
  • Prior knowledge of program support functions is an advantage.
  • Relevant experience in a United Nations system agency or organization will be considered an advantage.
  • Fluent knowledge of French and English is required.
  • Knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, or a Japanese language is an advantage.
