Position Description
RTI seeks national representation for the anticipated EWA activities. RTI will employ representatives from most focus countries. These countries include Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo. Depending on needs and other technical parameters, some countries may have a common national representative serving multiple countries.
Country representatives oversee technical activities at the country level related to all project objectives, closely coordinate and support local technical teams, consult with stakeholders, initiate and organize events, and deliver results. report and support logistics. Country representatives are based in the country of responsibility and report to the Senior Technical Advisor.
Responsibilities
- Support the organization, development and implementation of best practices in the following technology areas relevant to focus countries: energy transition, regulatory and enabling environment, energy efficiency, advanced energy systems, competitive procurement, private sector engagement; Regional/Bilateral Energy Trade – Grid development and funding of institutional capacity building, knowledge products and communication tools.
- Support for technical and administrative implementation of subcontracts at the state level.
- Establish and maintain national-level project networks within state governments, utilities, regulators, the private sector, the donor community, and other stakeholders. Support gender mainstreaming in national activities.
- Supports M&E reporting and contributes to national work plans and other deliverables and communication products for national activities. We handle all requests for program management support and administrative needs.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience, Master’s degree and 6 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- He has over 5 years experience in coordinating technical and organizational energy programs in West Africa.
- Proven experience in networking within government, donor, utility and private sector partners to influence energy sector change in focus countries.
- Proven energy technology experience in one or more of the following key topics: energy transition, regulation and environmental enablement, clean energy development and integration, distributed/off-grid energy resources, energy efficiency, advanced energy systems, competitiveness. procurement, private sector involvement, regional/bilateral energy trade. Understanding cross-cutting issues such as environment/climate change, gender equality, social inclusion and their intersection with the energy sector.
- Experience coordinating activities, workshops and trainings.
- Experience with project-based reporting systems.
- Proven ability to handle multiple simultaneous requirements under pressure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel to each country of focus for the project and work in sometimes difficult terrain and conditions.
- Knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of French or another language related to the target country is highly desirable.
